UK-China Exchange: Arts and Culture in a Pandemic

Zhao Chenlin graduated from the School of Management of Fudan University, and later studied Management of Culture Enterprise and Creative Enteprises in ESC Dijon, France. She has since been working in theatre and live entertainment in China. She specialises in strategic planning, international copyright negotiations, production management and marketing.

Since 2015, she has been responsible for localising Sleep No More in China. She developed, negotiated and produced the show’s Shanghai adaptation. Since its debut in August 2020, Sleep No More Shanghai version reached 1,000 performances and a total box office income of more than 300 million CNY. It has become the benchmark in Chinese immersive theatre.

Zhao also produced Secret Cinema Shanghai adaptation and the Chinese version of Tell Me on a Sunday. She has brought the China tours of the original musicals of School of Rock and Chicago. She is now working on “The Phantom of the Opera” tour.
