Living in Community: Architectural Practice in Chengdu and Guangzhou

After receiving her MA in Architecture at SCUT, Ye Min (Michelle) established FEI Architects in 2005 and FEI Arts in 2007.

FEI Arts has become the oldest private non-profit art institute in south China. In 2010, she co-founded PKN@Guangzhou to promote local creative sharing. She initiated the term “Artecture” in 2012 to break the boundary between art & architecture and her architectural projects “Borderless Community of Zi Ni Twelve Portals” and “Man Lap Fong” are successful examples of participatory design and community building.

Together with artist Song Dong and architect Jason Ho, Michelle started advocating the concept of “Borderlessness” since 2016. Their projects “Market is a Museum”, “People’s Garden” and “Architecture, or Architecture” demonstrate how architects and artists could create the “Borderless Community” in a diversified way.
