Emerging Talents – Stories from the Stage

Independent playwright and director who is most known for his breakthrough plays “BLAST” and “RED CHAMBER IN CONCRETE FOREST” which were featured in the 41st & 42nd Hong Kong Arts Festival. Directing works include “To Kill or to be Killed”, “The Black and Blue of A Man” (both by Poon Wai Sum), etc. His play “STRANGERS” was produced by the SDAC 16~17 for over 40 performances. Haoran graduated from the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts with a MFA in Drama (Distinction). He has been awarded the Jackie Chan Foundation Fellowship from the Asian Cultural Council in 2014 which fully supports his residency in New York City and Yale University. His work “PRIDE” was produced by HKREP in 2019 for over 20 performances and has won the Critics Award “Playwright of the Year” hold by the International Association of Theatre Critics. His writing and directing work “GAME BOY” was specially invited to the 2021 Wuzhen International Drama Festival. This play was written under the auspices of the New Writing Project organised by the Royal Court Theatre and British Council.
