UK-China Exchange: Arts and Culture in a Pandemic

Azlina is instrumental in advancing RIBA’s reach and position in the global markets.  She is responsible for RIBA’s international growth programme and since taking on the role in 2019 Azlina has substantially increased RIBA’s presence in several key areas including China, Gulf and the ASEAN region. Azlina also set up RIBA’s first overseas operations with the establishment of two international offices in Shanghai and UAE in early 2020.  Before joining the International directorate, Azlina was the Head of Operations, Nations & Regions at RIBA where she led the day to day operations of RIBA UK regional teams.

Previously to working at RIBA, Azlina worked in social banking where she co-developed a £20m grant programme for charities and social sector organisations. The aim being to improve their sustainability, capacity and scale and enabling them to deliver greater social impact.

In her early career, Azlina practiced as a lawyer before working for local government. Azlina has held a long career in a number of Non-Executive Director (NED) positions for non-profit organisations such as York Mind, University College of Osteopathy (UCO) and Stop Hate UK. Originally from Malaysia, Azlina completed her education in the United Kingdom and graduated in law from the University of East Anglia, Norwich.
