Open Call: 2018 JiMei X Arles International Photo Festival in Xiamen

2018 Jimei x Arles International Photo Festival is looking for curatorial projects.

Co-created by Sam Stourdzé, the director of famous international photo festival Rencontres d’Arles (France), and Chinese photographer RongRong (also the founder of Three Shadows Photography Art Centre, China’s first ever professional art centre dedicated to photography), Jimei x Arles features international artists selected from Rencontres d’Arles alongside Chinese and Asian photography talents. The festival has attracted more than 100,000 visitors since its inception in 2015. Jimei x Arles is co-organised by Three Shadows Photography Art Centre and Xiamen Tianxia Jimei Media Co., Ltd. Bérénice Angremy and Victoria Jonathan are the art directors of the 2018 edition, held in Xiamen from November 23, 2018, to January 2, 2019.

Jimei x Arles features more than 30 exhibitions arranged in different sections: exhibitions from Rencontres d’Arles, China Pulse, Crossover Photography, Jimei x Arles Discovery Award, Collector’s Tale, Local Action and a special focus on an Asian country. In 2018, Jimei x Arles is launching a call for curatorial projects for its China Pulse and Crossover Photography sections. It is open to all exhibition curators specialised in Chinese photography.

China Pulse is a series of exhibitions curated by China photography specialists. It aims at taking the pulse of current trends in Chinese photography. Whether collective or individual, the exhibition project shall refer to the photography medium in its diversity of forms (print, digital, video…).
