Overview

This workshop will bring together leading experts to explore the potential for enhanced collaboration between the UK and China – with a particular focus on Shanghai – to drive growth and innovation in the creative industries. The workshop will initiate a major new research-industry partnership between the two countries, with the expectation that it will inform multiple funding opportunities over subsequent years.

Whilst the workshop is intended to help shape the focus of future funding opportunities, four themes have been highlighted as areas of mutual interest in the UK and China, these will be refined through input at the workshop:

• screen industries,
• theatre and performing arts through mixed reality experiences
• gaming
• creative design

The workshop will take place in Shanghai over two days from Tuesday 6th November to Wednesday 7th November 2018. Expressions of interest to participate in the workshop are invited from UK-based researchers and creative businesses.

The event is being organised by AHRC with support from the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC), Innovate UK and UKRI China, and in collaboration with the Shanghai Economy and Information Technology Commission (SEITC) and Shanghai Theatre Academy (STA).
