UK-China Rutherford Curatorial Research Fellowship | Science Museum Group

Are you an experienced researcher? Can you communicate confidently in both English and Mandarin? The Science Museum Group is seeking to appoint a full-time UK-China Rutherford Curatorial Research Fellow for a period of up to 5 months starting in early 2018. This is a unique and exciting opportunity to contribute to the world’s premier science museums in a rich but little-known field.

The purpose of the role is to identify and provide preliminary evaluation of the key elements for a major museum exhibition – and other public programmes – about historic and contemporary science and technology in China. In your role you will work with a number of colleagues, including those in the Collections, Contemporary Science, Touring and Research & Public History Departments.

The Science Museum in London (flagship of the Science Museum Group) runs an ambitious programme of innovative temporary exhibitions. We are expanding our work in and with China and, amongst other things, are considering a temporary exhibition on Chinese science and technology – past, present and looking to the future – that would be shown at the Science Museum in London, the Museum of Science and Industry in Manchester in the period after 2022, and then be available for UK and international touring.

The Science Museum Group (SMG) comprises the Science Museum in London, the Museum of Science and Industry in Manchester, the National Railway Museum in York and Shildon and the National Science and Media Museum in Bradford. Together we share a mission to inspire futures.
