Open Call – SPARK: The Science and Art of Creativity looking for creative partners

SPARK: The Science and Art of Creativity is a new British Council Festival of Ideas, which will take place on 18-20 January 2019. The festival will come hot-on-the-heels of a year-long celebration of the 70th Anniversary of the British Council in Hong Kong (2018). It will showcase the best of UK creativity and innovation across the arts, sciences and education, and provide a platform for the exchange of ideas between the UK, Hong Kong and the North East Asia region.

SPARK will contain a thought leadership series and a community outreach programme, running across two core but interrelated strands: Arts and Innovation and Science and Creativity. It is open to everyone, especially the young and young-at-heart.

The main venue will be at Tai Kwun, Hong Kong’s Centre for Heritage and Arts in Central, with satellite venues in the New Territories of Hong Kong.

We aim to establish SPARK as an annual event and a key feature of the Hong Kong cultural calendar.  It will be an exciting alternative and counterpoint to other arts and cultural happenings in Hong Kong, and it will position the UK as a crucible for creative, innovative and provocative ideas. SPARK will provide the people of Hong Kong with a series of high quality interactive events and activities developed in partnership between UK-based and Hong Kong organisations that will provoke and inspire. It is aimed at people from all walks of life, English-speaking or not, and in particular the under 30s age group and the young-at-heart.
