‘Cheers!’ Series: Grass by Second Hand Dance

Explore the ground and all of its wriggly inhabitants in this quirky dance show. Performed on freshly-cut turf, featuring various kinds of tiny creatures, Grass weaves together dance, puppetry and projection to inspire children to look closely at the world around them. Grass enjoyed nationwide tours of the United Kingdom and participated in various children arts festivals including Kew Science Festival in 2019, Dublin Theatre Festival in 2018 and Edinburgh International Children's Festival in 2017.

XENOS by Akram Khan Company

XENOS marks Akram Khan's final performances as a solo dancer in a full-length piece. It reveals the beauty and horror of human condition in its portrait of an Indian dancer whose skilled body becomes an instrument of war.

The Crucible by the Old Vic – live screening

The Crucible is a partially fictionalised telling of the Salem witch trials. Accusations of witchcraft spiral out of control and many must choose between reputation and integrity. This production, captured by Digital Theatre live at London’s Old Vic, was directed by Yaël Farber and starred Richard Armitage.

In 1844 a young man and his two brothers from Bavaria stands on a New York dockside, dreaming of a new life in the new world. 163 years later, the firm they establish – Lehman Brothers – spectacularly collapses into bankruptcy, and triggers the largest financial crisis in history. Academy Award-winner Sam Mendes directs Simon Russell Beale, Adam Godley and Ben Miles who play the Lehman Brothers, their sons and grandsons.

The Royal Ballet’s Artist in Residence Liam Scarlett has become known for ballets that marry highly expressive movement, sophisticated musical response and dark psychological. Now he creates his first full-length work for the main stage with Frankenstein, a period adaptation of Mary Shelley’s Gothic tale of morality and our craving for love, companionship and understanding. Frankenstein will be live relayed at Guangzhou Opera House.

Romeo a Juliet

Exquisite costumes and extraordinary video projections create a world of danger and excitement where two young lovers are caught in an age-old feud.

Matthew Bourne’s Swan Lake

British choreographer Matthew Bourne's dance drama "Swan Lake" will be staged six times at the Beijing Tianqiao Performing Arts Center. Following the composition of Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, his "Swan Lake" is best known for replacing females with males. Bourne's award-winning version debuted in 1995 and has been frequently performed at London's West End and New York's Broadway. It met audiences in Shanghai in 2014.
